Brazil is famous as the land of carnivals, samba, football, and now… classical ballet! The Brazilian city of Joinville is home of the ballet school run by the Russian Bolshoi Theatre. It’s arguably the world’s greatest ballet company, and this school is the only one outside Russia that teaches the trade. Talented children are selected from all over the country to learn classical dances and theatre, in the finest traditions of the famous Russian ballet school. It’s also a grand social project. Through this, children from deprived families get the opportunity to change their lives through art. More than 200 pupils, mainly from low-income families, receive scholarships that gives them a shot at a better future.
