‘Personalized childcare for all’, is the motto of Kids Aozora, a preschool that does things a little differently from regular schools. Based in an old Tokyo district, this day-care centre welcomes 75 children, aged 0 to 6, and 30% of them have developmental disorders, physical disabilities, or language issues.
Society is diversifying, and it’s important to tend to every child individually. This approach is crucial and necessary for the times right now, experts believe.
'The more kids there are that aren’t accepted, the more I have to find a way to take them in,’ says Kuroiwa Mai, the school’s manager. She has introduced ways to accommodate kids with diverse needs at Kids Aozora, and today, the parents and families are deeply grateful.
This documentary is about little people who need special attention and the carers who are ready to give it with warm hearts.
