In the summer of 2022, Rome approved a package of military assistance to Kiev in coordination with the United States. Italy, like all NATO members, actually took the side of Ukraine in the armed conflict with Russia. But not all Italians agree with the decision. Italian citizens coming from different backgrounds join protests and rallies in support of Russia. Italians are wondering why they were involved in an armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine and more so, why they have to see their country’s budget spent on weapons for Ukraine, while all this money is desperately needed for Italy’s own needs.
