The Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) is one of the longest and most challenging railway projects in the world, stretching over 4,000 kilometres across Siberia and the Russian Far East. This massive undertaking crosses 11 major rivers and 7 mountain ranges, and it's now undergoing a major upgrade. The BAM-2 project is expanding the line, adding new tracks, bridges, and tunnels to boost speed and cargo capacity. But building in such extreme conditions—where temperatures plunge to -60°C in winter and soar to +40°C in summer—requires incredible effort.
