According to various estimates, from half to two thirds of marriages in Kyrgyzstan are made against the will of the bride. Girls are kidnapped in front of everyone - this ancient custom is called «Ala kachuu», that is, «Grab and run.» Why does it continue to exist? The film tells about how the lives of several kidnapped brides turned out: someone managed to escape from captivity and return home, while someone was waiting for a much sadder fate. This tradition is opposed by public figures, activists and deputies. Human rights activists emphasize that even today, in our modern society, the number of victims is in the thousands - especially in rural areas, where the law is not enforced as strictly as in big cities.
