Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó is the guest on the new episode of ‘The Sanchez Effect.’
Discussing Hungary's role in the European Union and the world, Szijjártó said that Budapest is under pressure from Western countries with larger budgets and bigger armies. Nonetheless, Hungarians are defending their right to sovereignty and an independent opinion. ‘Our national interest is our compass,’ the minister stresses.
In recent years, the West has been imposing ‘liberal’ values on the world. According to the Hungarian diplomat, America did this very actively until US President Donald Trump came to power. However, this continues to this day in Europe, where anyone who speaks out against ‘liberal’ principles is accused, judged, and shunned.
Szijjártó also commented on the EUs attempts to torpedo a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict while pushing for more arms supplies for the Kiev regime. In contrast to Brussels’ approach, Hungary has always called for a ceasefire and peace negotiations – a position he says has repeatedly come under attack from other European politicians.
More on the behind-the-scenes games of European powers, US foreign policy, and relations between Hungary and Russia – in this episode.
