Buddhist monks embark on a pilgrimage known as a ‘Walk for Peace’
Setting out from Fort Worth, Texas, they walk toward Washington, covering approximately 3,700 kilometers over 108 days, trudging through rain, snow, and cold wind.
Their route takes them along highways and through small American towns, where local residents come out to the roadside to support the procession and share their pain, fears, and hopes.
The monks carry no slogans or banners – only a bell and prayer accompany them on their way. Every strike of the bell rings out in quiet protest against hatred, violence, and the inner division that grips the nation.
The final destination is the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, where the monks conclude their pilgrimage with a collective prayer including all those who’ve come to share in their journey.
