17 laboratories and two deep-sea ‘Mir’ vehicles are all located on the research vessel ‘Academician Keldysh’. Its size is impressive: it is more than 122 metres long and almost 18 metres wide.
The vessel is called a ‘floating laboratory’ and it has participated in research activities in the Arctic. Scientists on ‘Academician Keldysh’ study permafrost, ecological state of waters and bottom remains in the Arctic seas.
