Lampedusa is the closest part of Europe to North Africa where refugees are flooding into. In search of a better life, people are ready to incur risks and get to the island on crowded boats. They’re not deterred despite the fact that hundreds of people die in the sea yearly. One of such tragedies occurred in 2014. Then, about 356 out of 500 people on board were killed in the wreck of a longboat.
