Seeking Recognition

These countries have all declared independence, but are yet to be recognised as sovereign states worldwide. This documentary series examines the causes of the stalemate and shows what it’s like to live in a half-way house, hemmed in by borders that do not represent statehood. Presidents and conscripts, army veterans and grieving relatives, businessmen and artists tell their painful memories of war, the tense relations with their neighbours, and also their hopes for the future.
