Massimo Eccli, an Italian, works as a philology professor in Moscow. He has had an interest in the Russian language since he was a child. During the Iron Curtain era in the 1980s, Massimo did his graduate thesis on Russian poetry. Back then, he could not find any recent literature for his work in his country, so he decided to travel to Moscow. The aspiring Italian philologist liked the city and the people so much that he decided to permanently move to Russia. He has been living in Russia for more than 30 years now.
