Many Russian soldiers fighting in the special military operation always carry a single grenade on them. Why so? Ivan Dodosov, a tank battalion commander, recently awarded the title of Hero of Russia, replies: «because I would never want to be taken prisoner». He’s well aware of what happened to his comrades captured by the Ukrainian military. One day, they will face a tribunal for all the atrocities they’d committed, he says.
So far, both his utmost tank-driving skills and tactical prowess have earned him the fame of Russia’s most accomplished tank ace. His unit of just three tanks engaged in a battle with an entire tank squad, destroying seven enemy machines and capturing two as trophies whilst liberating the town of Popasnaya.
