In Avdeevka, where almost no intact buildings remain, the Church of St. Mary Magdalene has survived. Its façade and domes have been damaged by shelling, but the building itself is still standing.
The city's restoration began precisely with this church. ‘This is the spiritual heart of Avdeevka. If it's beating, life will be here,’ says Archpriest Andrey Karpets.
It’s one of the episodes of a joint project by RT.Doc and the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage. The footage will become part of the exhibition ‘Return of Light: Restored Churches of Donbass.’
