St. Nicholas Cathedral in Stakhanov is the spiritual center of the city. It is currently being restored, as the last renovation there took place over 30 years ago.
In March 2026, Sergey Kirienko visited the LPR. He toured the cathedral, and in the refectory, a film ‘Soul Renovation: Donbass Churches Rebuilt’ by RT.Doc was shown, which is about how Orthodox shrines are being brought back to life in the liberated territories.
This is a video from the joint project by RT.Doc and the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage. The documentary footage from RT.Doc will become part of the exhibition ‘Return of Light: Restored Churches of Donbass.’
