The Ukrainian Armed Forces deliberately destroyed the shrines of Donbass.
The Holy Transfiguration Church in Volnovakha is one such place. In 2022, during the battles for the city, an artillery shell hit the altar area. A fire broke out, and the building burned to the ground. Only a few icons miraculously survived.
