In the village of Nikolskoe, the Holy Dormition Vasilyevsky Monastery became a shelter for residents for 2 years. The roads to the monastery and its buildings were constantly shelled, but the priests did not stop holding services.
‘We took communion every day so that we wouldn't be afraid to die,’ recalls Hieromonk Innokenty Gondar.
Schema‑Archimandrite Zosima founded this monastery. He also blessed the construction of the lower church, where monks and villagers took shelter before the Russian army's arrival.
