Dagestan is nestled between the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. Here, you can find stunning landscapes featuring mountains, sand dunes, waterfalls, and canyons. The Sulak Canyon is one of the deepest in the world, reaching a depth of 2,000 meters.

The Sarykum Barkhan stands 150 meters tall and is approximately 100,000 years old. In the summer, the sand temperature can soar to +80°C. This unique location is home to over 21 species of reptiles, including the venomous viper and the Mediterranean tortoise.

During his journey through the ‘land of mountains’, Sean Thomas meets with biologists, geographers, and reserve staff to uncover the wonders of Dagestan. He learns how to navigate the steep cliffs and precipices, where a single misstep could lead to injury, at a weight well in excess of 250 kilos! He also discovers how bodies of water can rise dangerously during rainfall, posing risks to safety.

Dagestan's beauty is truly breathtaking, but nature here does not forgive mistakes.
